Trentham 36 – 0 Eccleshall

Saturdays game was a tough test for our 2nd team with Eccleshall fetching a fairly young side but with a good mix of experienced players in there too. Before the game Eccleshall did not have a full front row so the games scrummaging was uncontested which suited their game plan more than Trenthams.

The 1st half started well for Trentham with some good back play and quality passing. It was looking like that we were going to be our own downfall with some stupid penalties and mistakes but the deadlock was broken with tries from Rowland Osii, Greg Mawby and the returning Karl Machin With David Winder getting 2 conversions.

The 2nd half was pretty much like the 1st and was very scrappy in the forwards, but our more dominant pack and quick backs soon took control with 2 tries from David Winder and his 1st try for the club by Dan Jones with Dave adding one conversion.

There were some outstanding performances from Martin Almond and new players Will & Tom.

Lets build on this performance and get our 1st Merit league win at Leek next Saturday!
